“I am quick to cry now, and I don’t even say “this usually doesn’t happen to me” anymore because I have a new usual and it happens all the time.” A reminder that all of our existences crosses over, and thank goodness. It is hard, it is the only way through.

Ms. McLamb, you are gifted, still young and so much time available to do extraordinary words for folk. But, allow a couple of perspectives. First, that always cold water over there at Laguna Beach (my wife and I stayed there for one glorious week)? And the changing weather, and Newton's idea? Is it a possibility someday, that Laguana's water might warm? And this: if nothing belongs to you, so you have nothing to give, who speaks to us about love? And wouldn't it follow, your guy got the short end of a cruel stick? Like affairs of the heart are not to be trifled with! Liza, I believe our writing can be improved. But a working comfort with the human condition and appreciation for ways of the universe take serious contemplation.

Hey Eliza, this probably isn’t the right place to put this, but maybe others will be interested too. I have a fun/depressing thing that I like to do on Substack: put people’s newsletters through GPTZero (a pretty reliable AI scanner). It’s shocking how many newsletters are 100% AI-generated. Not even human written and AI-polished, but 100% AI. There are so many newsletters specifically about the dangers of AI, or AI in the information age, that are literally 100% generated by AI, with hundreds of sincere commenters engaging with the material (like this one https://cardcatalogforlife.substack.com/). Very sinister! I thought it might be something you would be interested in.

I’ve been struggling so much lately with feeling as if nothing belongs to me and wanting the feeling to go away more than anything. What a freeing way to look at things. Thank you for writing this <3
